24 of the thundering WA Dirt Late Models hit the track next Saturday Night for the first of what is set to be a massive season with-in these left hand monsters.
Up to 8 new cars & drivers, even a few big names will hit the track on Saturday at the Perth Motorplex ready to contest the 11 round Kart World Belmont Pro Dirt Series in conjunction with the Perth Motorplex track championship all hoping to notch that first up win and get off on the right foot in season 2007/08.
Making her debut in the division is one of the hottest female talents in the world, “Red Hot Ronnie” McCann; she has decided to make her way into these monsters to gain some much needed heavy car experience for her USA assault on stock cars. And if you think she will sit back and let the boys sort themselves out, WRONG, she will mix it up with these guys for sure.
A couple of other debut drivers this for the first time, you will see ex solo star Karl Rainey driving for the AJN stable, Lee Watt from Margaret River in the ex Ryan Halliday national title winning car, Jeremy Hale also in a ex Ryan Halliday car. Current WA AMCA state champ Michael Holmes makes is debut in the ex Brad Ludlow Warrior.
Driver debuting new cars will be Mark Mathews, Phil Richards, Jay Cardy, Mat Goodlad & Craig Vosbergen whose car is something to be seen, the sign package on the TVR Rocket is in 2 pieces only and one of the most exciting sign jobs I have ever seen.
My predictions for the year?
Current Wa & Nationals Champ Brad Blake will again be a force but there will be a few surprises this season from other teams. A few to watch out for will be "Mr Excitement" Jason Oldfield who has prepared two cars & three engines for the season, he is determined to knock “The 0 Show” of the porch as the big dog, Mark Duncombe came into form at the end of last season and is looking to continue, “The Black Knight” Ryan Halliday came to grips with the GRT towards the end of the Motorplex season and my final spot in the BCM top 5 will be “The Rocket Man” Craig Vosbergen who spent 6 weeks in the USA in a brand new car getting ready for this Kart World Pro Dirt Series Season.
So that’s the five guys I believe will fight it out this whole season. Stay tuned each week as I bring you close & personal to those things that make your heart stop beating, WA Dirt Late Models
