Not since the halcyon days of the Marlboro Grand National at Sydney's Liverpool Raceway has the sport boasted a comparable line up of international late model sedan talent as will take the flag at Tyrepower Parramatta Raceway this Saturday night.
The 410 V8 winged sprintcars make Tyrepower their regular home during the summer months with turn outs ranging between 35 and 55 cars, will again lead the happy hour qualifying.
However, they will be followed by the late models who come to TPCR better turned out in representative numbers than ever before, includuing American pros Al Atkinson and Bert Cheatham.
Both will be in big block Chevy powered Rocket cars.
West Australian regulars Barry Blake, James Oldfield and Warren Oldfield have the latest US inspired equipment with South Australians Luke Raymond, Matt Crimmins and John McKay all red hot to unleash on the tacky third-mile oval.
Former sprintcar racer and track sponsor Ross Nicastri cannot resist sliding a massive V8 on the clay, but he admits Daryl Grimson will be the man to beat.
Thirty late models will compete in four qualifying heats, B main and 30 lap National Open.
The Sprintcars have a 35 strong entry list with Craig Brady, James Thompson, Marty Perovich, Roddy Bellbowen, Kelly Linigen and Martin Lawes all among the favourites.
The Brian Foyle trophy race for street stocks and a frantic demolition derby will also be featured on the program which starts at 7.00pm and represents outstanding value for the $23 adult admission price while all accompanied kids are free.
